Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)
What is PRF?
Platelet-Rich Fibrin Therapy is basically a supercharged version of PRP therapy. One of the key ingredients in PRF are fibrinogens. Fibrinogens are proteins in your blood, and they turn into fibrin during the clotting process. Fibrin is responsible for stopping bleeding and healing the skin, and stimulating collagen during the healing process.
PRF is spun in a centrifuge at a lower speed so the layers of blood do not separate as much as with PRP. This allows some white blood cells, red blood cells, and stem cells to remain within the platelet layer and be collected for treatment. Due to this, there are more healing factors, and slower release of all the growth factors within PRF as compared to PRP. PRF is great for under eye hyperpigmentation, darkness, and injection for hair loss.
Studies have shown that PRP/PRF has around 578 different types of proteins such as platelet-derived growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, and transforming growth factor beta. These proteins and growth factors can stimulate stem cells, improve cellular proliferation, differentiation, and regeneration, which aids in skin rejuvenation, collagen production, and skin renewal.
